Clara Oppel’s “Refractions” at Bellevue
As a prelude to the Brückner-Kühner Foundation’s program at the Palais Bellevue, Clara Oppel is creating a space-consuming audio installation: an interwoven, oscillating, and walkable structure that sounds different from every listening direction. The sound from soundscapes of nature as well as voices and thoughts crumbles down to the microscopic, as fine as the delicate tension of a lake surface with dancing water striders. During the exhibition, the Graz-based artist offers sound walks (“walk the sound”), guided tours and talks. The supporting program also includes a reading by language artist, radio play author and literary editor Stephan Krass from his 2022 book “Radiozeiten. Vom Ätherspuk zum Podcast”: for a good reason, because in October 2023 radio will be 100 years old.
